Artist's Statement
ARTIST - Impressionist landscapes, Animals, Abstract Impressionist Painter, Vibrant Landscapes, Excite the Imagination Specialising primarily but not exclusively in landscapes, I have exhibited and sold work online and throughout the south of England. My philosophy is based on the concept that art should coax a reaction from the observer. As an artist I go on that inevitable path which takes me through many different styles and subjects, which produces both grace and garbage. Iím under no illusion, Iíve a long way to go; my work is a reflection of learning, experimenting and mistake-making as I attempt to interpret my personal vision onto canvas and experiment with different approach, techniques and tools. My favourite places to paint are Cornwall and the Lake District. Art is a labour of love and you should paint what gives you pleasure and enjoyment. I find it very difficult to paint London but give me mountains, sea and countryside and I'm away. To me painting is escapism; it allows real thinking time away from the grindstone. Holding down a full time job in London can be demanding giving me little time to paint during the week, but this can lead to more spontaneous paintings, finished quickly, when my thoughts are racing from the day and my brush keeps pace. Alternatively, and for me - ideally, it can also be a time to let my brain slow down, my focus can turn fully to the painting and I will shut everything else out. I couldn't say if one state of mind achieves better than the other, it's all emotion and it's all part of life. To sum up - no two brush strokes can ever be the same, no two paintings will ever match, and that is my inspiration.
