My life as an artist started with the simplest task assigned to me in second grade. My challenge was to create a background black board for my school class at Eden Park Elementary School. The journey had begun. In my early twenties Photography took center stage, I hit the open road and discovered the beauty of the Montana wilderness. With my hard earned Nikon Camera and zoom lens I was immersed into the world of visual wonder. Fast forward two continents, several universities, and the birth of my son, to the present moment when photography and painting are the passion that fill every day. I am captivated by the beauty of nature and human form. As an artist my interpretation of the sights, and vistas are what I hope brings joy to the observer. Charlie Russell, Georgia O’Keefe, Maxfield Parish are among the many who have inspired me. Paolo Soleri has been my personal mentor, as well as Collette Brooks, Jo Flagg, Pernell Spencer, Jerry Yarnell to name a few. My sister Barbara Kamal Khan has encouraged me relentlessly to have the courage to share my art. I am constantly learning and growing and finding authenticity in my work when I move away from the expected, and into new realms of thought forms and visual interpretations. I have the Great fortune to be able to create in my studio on the outskirts of rural Willow Creek Montana.
