Artist's Statement
My Inspiration: I grew up in Utah surrounded by natural beauty. The mountains and nature were my home, and I loved every minute I spent exploring and discovering the natural world. I think this is why I feel so at home painting nature-inspired art. Nature’s palette and nature’s beauty is what I set out to capture on the canvas, using color, textures and found papers and objects. I paint impressionistic paintings, hoping to show the viewer what I see and feel. It's important to me that the viewer is an active participant and finds a piece of themselves that resonates within my art. Coming from another place entirely is my mixed-media artwork, which is the manifestation of my internal world. Found objects, gorgeous colors, beautiful papers and patterns encountered in my travels and daily life are incorporated into many of my paintings, adding a deeply personal element. My Abstract work is always a challenge for me, it's a balance on how to construct each painting with texture and paint. It's all about controlling the free spirit of the creative process using color, texture and putting on canvas that which is visually appealing to me. Painting is an ongoing passion of mine, one can always find me in my studio painting or painting in Plein Air.
