Wanda was born in a very small town in northern WI and raised by her grandparents until she was 8 yrs old. During those years she she had no one to play with, and her imagination played a big part of her development. She would sit on her swing and look at the sky and imagine shapes in the clouds. This was the beginning of her career as an artist! She didn’t start drawing portraits until she was a mother of two, in her late 20’s. Her first portraits were of friends of her children, then of her church friends until finally she launched her website, created a brochure and started receiving paid commissions. The following are excerpts from email she has received after her clients received their portraits:
"I just wanted to let you know that my family, especially my husband loved the picture. It brought a lot of happy tears to our gift opening. Thank you again for the wonderful job." "I'm excited for her parents to see it. Thanks for your good work." "Wanda - this is fabulous !!!!" "Angie LOVES the portrait….she said several times to tell you thank you!" "This is awesome work! " "It's gorgeous you do such awesome work!!!!! Wow I'm so glad I finally did this!! I'm so excited!" I love it!!!! "Wow... I think it looks awesome!! You’re doing a fantastic job... can hardly wait for my daughter to open it up Christmas morning. She is going to be so excited." Wanda loves to draw children and captures their “little people” personalities. She will also draw adults, celebrities, vehicles and pets. Fall of 2011, Wanda started drawing in color. Previous drawings were only done in graphite and charcoal pencils. An artist friend stated the following, concerning her first color portrait; “Well, it appears you are taking to colored pencil like a duck to water, girl! This is awesome work! Honestly! You did a REALLY nice job with layering the flesh tones!” Wanda now resides in central WI and along with portraiture enjoys crocheting, knitting, reading, computers, playstation and spending time with her children and three grandsons. |
