Artist's Statement

I use the term SoFlo Superflat to describe the genre that I work in. It is an urban pop art movement in South Florida. The subject matters are very diverse, artist working in this style emphasize outlines and flat areas of color. What is important is the feeling of flatness. My artwork is about intensity of color, curved lines, and daring patterns unified into one language. Due to this, I feel my artwork is a pictorial language that communicates the connections between various human experiences. However, at the core of my work, I have always explored the depths of an African heart to a Latin rhythm. My work spans many techniques including drawing, painting, and fiber media
