Chessa’s insightful artwork breathes life into the imagination and blossoms from a world of depth and beauty. She uses every aspect of the awakened spirit as a resource to create from and sees painting as a therapeutic tool to find stillness and wisdom within. Her unique style is a balanced blend of rhythmic brush-strokes, vibrant colors and passionate emotions. Chessa has created a unique style of representational surrealism which speaks of the wonder of nature, humanity and the ethos. She continues to be inspired by the works of fellow artists, nature and colorful patterns found all around the world. “…all art starts and ends with its creator’s sense of self, regardless of subject.” De Chirico Anais Nin said it best: “We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are.” Oscar Wilde: “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken.”

Chessa’s insightful artwork breathes life into the imagination and blossoms from a world of depth and beauty. She uses every aspect of the awakened spirit as a resource to create from and sees painting as a therapeutic tool to find stillness and wisdom within. Her unique style is a balanced blend of rhythmic brush-strokes, vibrant colors and passionate emotions. Chessa has created a unique style of representational surrealism which speaks of the wonder of nature, humanity and the ethos. Chessa was born and raised in in San Diego, California. It was there that she received technical training in figure and portrait painting from Mira Costa College and San Dieguito Academy. Chessa then went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater Arts from University of California, Santa Cruz. While studying at the University, Chessa lived/participated in an active artist residency called, The Tannery Arts Center. There, she occupied a large open studio where she would paint for hours on end. Her travels to exotic parts of the world including; Africa, Southeast Asia, Central America, South America, Europe, Hawai’i, Mexico and the Middle East, have greatly influenced her style as well. In 2008 she moved to New York City where she studied painting and figure drawing at the Art Students League of New York City. Moving to San Francisco in 2010, Chessa worked for Artspan and The Dance Mission Theater as an Art/Dance Instructor for elementary school students and preschoolers. Motivated by her students’ eagerness to learn, Chessa continued on her quest for achieving greatness. She has since been featured in over twenty galleries in the Bay Area including; The Bridgehead Gallery, Dance Mission Theater, 4N5 Gallery, Human Creature Studio and the DNA Lounge. She was nominated for the “Visual Artist of the Year Award” through a juried exhibition with RAW San Francisco. Chessa’s artwork has been donated and auctioned off through Artspan, San Francisco. She is also a member of the Bay Area artist collective; MESHCollective and has been a featured live-painter at several events including; Pancakes and Booze SF, Life Is Living Festival in Oakland, Pangea World Festival and RAW SF. She remains focused on actively seeking and pursuing opportunities in the visual arts.
