I am inspired by colour and light. I trained at The College Of Fine Arts (UNSW),Sydney in the late nineties. My work is spontaneous often mixing bright colours. Many people are taken aback by the dramatic affect the colours create. I try to find new combinations and contrasts and don't shy away from the whole palette. Having said that I do love my pastels and brighter sides of the spectrum. I live in the QLD tropics of Australia where surrounded by turquoise skies and incredibly bright flowers. Electric orange blooms, white frangipani flowers with their sweet yellow centre and butterflies with translucent indigo wings. I often paint and draw mermaids in my own style. They are always full of life and joy under the ocean. I also love the goddess archetype: her power, empathy, wisdom and beauty and compassion. I find myself drawing with pastel almost hypnotised in the process where shapes and symbols come to light. They find their way into many of my paintings. I have learned to use art as a healing tool too. After I was diagnosed with bipolar in my early twenties I began to create again finding new ways to express myself. I found I had discovered a new language where I was able to express pain but also the courage to emerge from my cocoon reborn. I found that my inner life was important to explore and it held depth and the capacity for growth and self healing. It is marvellous to be able to make an image of what you are feeling, it validates your experience and begins a life long communication with your soul. For the first time in a long time I found myself creating for me, in the moment to experience that and suspend any outcome or reaction from others. It was quite a relief. Today I continue to paint, draw and write poetry. My paintings are numerous and I have had many exhibitions throughout the North Queensland region. I hope my creativity resonates with you. It comes from the heart. Namaste Imogen

I was born in Edinburgh Scotland to Kiwi parents but spent my child hood in Christchurch New Zealand. I moved to Magnetic Island (Australia) in 1993 where I finished school before heading to Sydney to attend Art School. Early on I knew painting was for me, a bond for life. Spiritual subject matter and colour were the two keys. I have spent years drawing, another love of mine, which has formed a solid base to my art work. Today I have extremely well managed Bipolar which has turned out to be a blessing. It has taken me on exciting healing and artistic journeys. It is my wish to inspire others to create and heal. I hope my work intrigues and makes people feel good. I know it will find the right people. Thankyou
