Artist's Statement

While I was in art school I once asked an instructor to teach me how to paint. His answer was, "Paint a thousand paintings, and then we'll talk."
I realized that meant that even though I will learn from taking classes and watching other artists, I'll never truly understand light, shape, and color without experimenting with it, myself.
Every day I paint or draw, and the simple mistakes I may make while creating something actually help me learn and apply to my next piece of art.
