Ania Markowska's Artist Profile
Ania Markowska from Mississauga, Bulgaria
i like artist
Bio: Art in all of its forms, has gotten me through many hard times. There is also the fact that I am of Polish descent and in my family, there are writers, painters, composers, ceramic artists, jewelry makers, media moguls, (most of all who have made names for themselves on national levels). Like them, I believe that I am forever bound to my creative forces, which manifest in a nomad kind of life. But I believe that what I have to offer, as an artist, is unique and I hope to achieve the kind of success that allows me to continue to offer inspiration and a different perspective of the beauty that I see in the world. In attempt to support my efforts as a self representing artist, I am trying to sell some work online. Your interest and purchases are very valuable to me and are much appreciate. Thank you.

Photography, which is the medium I was introduced to in 2000, gave me the unexpected pleasure of being challenged to look at the visual and visceral, living and inanimate worlds differently and to discover those things that I later found I could have overlooked, or did. Initially, I embarked on my photographic journey with a Pentax K1000 SLR camera and spent many hours in the darkroom giving birth to the many black and white images I had captured with my 'third eye' (the camera). It was not until about four years later, however, that I re-visted the art form but this time I was curious about the digital apparatus. Actually, looking back, I think that my first brush with a digital camera and glimpse of its possibilities, can be traced back to Paris, France 2001, and a jovial photo of a field of sunflowers against a clear blue sky. Ironically, I soon became the proud owner of a Canon digital camera, and a digital photographer, somehow all of a sudden finding myself drawn to nature and flowers in particular. More recently, I have become convinced that the spirit of my cousin had and continues to be what guides me to stop where I stop and to submit to the given moment by utilizing my ever reliable camera. And every time I do, I feel that I am more certain that my camera has more confidence then I and I am fine with that, as long as it remains as my sidekick and continues to show me how to turn negatives into positives. Although I continue to have most reverence for the traditional and classic, I have willingly veered off into the world of digital art, which allows me to merge images and create surreal landscapes and visual stories. Since 2007, I have been accepting art on demand requests and imagine that I will continue to do so as it also gives me great pleasure to share my imagination with others and hopefully create pieces that will be enjoyed over the course of many years.
