i like artist
As a nationally and internationally published illustrator and portrait artist I have been most influenced by the classic masters in American illustration: Norman Rockwell, Jon Whitcomb, Frank McCarthy, Robert MacGuinnes, Coby Whitmore, Gil Elvgren, Bernie Fuchs and many other realists. All of them were masters of great drawing, figurework, portraiture, design and dramatic color. In my art I have studied their work and emulated to the best of my ability incorporating their artistic approaches. I have always favored the traditional styles of realistic art yet giving my work my personal look and style. I personally favor figurework and portraiture, especially of celebrities of which I have done many creating many book covers and magazine illustrations featuring the famous in entertainment, history, religion and sports. in addition to beautiful tasteful pinup art. My best college art instructors were those who demanded anatomical accuracy and proportion in my work and it has stuck with me. Even though illustration has gone off in a hundred different ways, from realism to total abstraction, and tastes of art directors and art buyers in the print world has changed, there is always a market for realists who excel in their work. In addition to my commercial work I also do private portrait and pinup commissions. You can contact me at my official website: www.dickbobnick.com and my print site: www.dickbobnick.artistwebsites.com
