Artist's Statement
I love art. I always have, for as long as I can remember. I used to say "Art is in my blood..." which through time kinda twisted into what I call my slogan, Live Art, Dream Art, Breathe Art. It is simply what I do. When I paint with acrylics, I paint thick with a heavy hand, the strokes of my brush adding not only color but wonderful hills and valleys to the world of my art. I love variety in my art, my art style, my creative medium of choice varying. I paint with oils, watercolors, and my all time favorite, acrylics. I love to mix it up a bit and also use paint pens, iridescent paints, metallic paints and even (for the right painting, like Pantyline) red glitter. I also love my geek(ier) side, sitting in front of the computer creating cg artwork like Emily Swings or World Spinner. I even had a bit of fun with a cute little fairy series of cg artwork. I use Photoshop, Gimp, and Illustrator to create my cg art, and I do it all on my trusty ole PC. I am an artist, a fine artist, a graphic artist... an artist. I am a website developer/designer, email marketing administrator, and general aspiring geek. I am a wife to the most wonderful man, even when I want to strangle him (just kidding!). I am a mother (after 16 years of trying) to the most awesome young lady I have ever met and cannot wait until this little new found toddler is ready to start learning herself some art (I am excited about coloring books, seriously)! I always wanted to be an art teacher, so now's (soon) my chance. Time to Breathe Art some more... won't you join me?

Marlene Wood-Rose is an emerging artist. Though she has worked professionally as a graphic artist, designer and web developer since 1990, she has remained a closet sketcher/painter and fine artist until most recently. After a few short-lived attempts in the past, Marlene is now ready to expose the world to her unique art style. In 2010 Marlene released all holds and began sharing her vibrant creations with the world. With usage of bold colors, thick textured strokes and an unclassified art style with acrylics, watercolors, oils and cg artwork, Marlene crosses the lines of several art genres and mixes them together into works of breathtaking art. Marlene was born in Wilmington, North Carolina in 1971. In 1989 she graduated from Trinity Senior High School, and though she began her college career with Guilford Technical Community College the same year, by 1990 she was hired as an illustrator and inker for a publishing company, which soon turned into a graphic artist position, then advertising, then web. Marlene never looked back as her computer guided her down her path. All the while she maintained a passion for art, drawing often, painting when time and space allowed, while her career kept her in front of a computer with graphic design, layout and web coding, development. In 2009 Marlene became a mother, giving birth to her first child, a daughter named Cheza. With the arrival of a new baby came also the passion to paint again, something Marlene was not expecting, but has eagerly latched on to. This biography should be ever changing as Marlene develops into the artist she has the potential to be... perhaps there will even be a listing or two of shows her art has been in, or something nifty such as that. Until then, Marlene humbly asks that you let her artwork do the talking for her, and enjoy!
