Anatoliy Sivkov's Artist Profile
Anatoliy Sivkov
i like artist
Anatoly Sivkov is certified artist-theatre technologist. The second part of this word combination, determining his speciality, is as important as the first one. "Art is Technology", Merab Mamardashvili said, therefore, the invention of original technologies of canvas, cardboard and paper technique comes as permanent feature of Anatoly Sivkov's creativity. In its turn, the technology determines the artist's specific ways to create and the necessity for immediate painting without preliminary sketching, which presupposes spontaneous, accidental (a highly-valued by the artist) ultimate result. The spectator should be indifferent if an artist was not surprised or, even puzzled by his own work of art. Themes are various: genre-painting, Petersburg's landscape, conventional composition with unconventional "human-caused factor" or combination of all these themes. The very common feature for all of these works is the graphic framework which raises the conflict with color and texture, the thing that gives birth to a dramatic unity. The surface of canvas, cardboard possesses a self-dependent value – the work should be expressive both microscopically and telescopically. Unlike the means of expressiveness (i.e. technologies), the artist doesn't change by itself. Therefore, there is a hope that Anatoly Sivkov's creativity will develop in expotential way, remaining adequate to the Invariableness. Cyril Meret, culturologist
