NO ARTS FOUND BY ARTIST

Paul Button has been potty for many years, since learning the craft at his mother’s knee. Come to think of it, he’s still about that high. His pleasure is in creating unique and unusual ceramic artworks, most of which have no immediately obvious function other than giving intense satisfaction to all who view and touch them.

Paul’s aim in throwing on the wheel is highly specialised – that is, to get as much clay as possible onto the back of his head, where it remains to be found much later as a trophy of the day’s endeavours.

Paul brings diverse cultural influences into his work, having created pottery and ceramics for the last 35 years in New Guinea, Muscat (Oman), Dubai, UK and Australia. An unquenchable curiosity has led him to continually explore new styles of production and glazing with the result that many of his works are unique, exciting and very different.

Paul now creates havoc, and the occasional ceramic artistry – pottery and sculptures - at Tweed Unlimited Arts at Banora Point, Mullum Potters in Mullumbimby and in his studio at home in Lennox Head (please call to come and visit his studio).
