Moonfuller Outsider Artist As long as I can remember I have felt art inside me. It took a long time to figure out how to channel that energy in a way that satiated the craving to create. I didn’t do anything worth mentioning until I started working with gourds at the end of 2007- burning, staining, carving, beading, feathering, wiring, painting, etc. After that I made jewelry, then medicine bags, and near the beginning of 2010 I started painting. I had an immediate fondness for chalk pastels- no prep, little cleanup, nothing between me and the chalk (such as brushes or other tools), I can blend it with my hands, and I can do it anywhere. And of course, I like the way it looks. Now, I go back and forth between chalk and acrylic. I aim to include watercolors in my experiments in the near future. I didn’t set out with a goal; I just wanted to paint. I had no idea what I would paint- still don’t- and that never matters. I have no formal- or for that matter, informal- education or training. I experience art experimentally, spontaneously, watching it appear and morph in ‘real time’, without internal previews of what’s coming. Sometimes it feels like getting presents because, aside from commissions, almost all of them are surprises. The physical boundaries of my body are instrumental, but as a Servant to the Master that is Creative Energy, “I” am barely involved. Moonfuller.net ~ moonfuller.com[email protected]

I grew up in Southern California. In 2000 I found myself and my 2 big dogs with nowhere to live. I moved to Orangevale, leaving behind everyone and everything I knew, including my all-time favorite job at J&D Corvette. Just before my 30th birthday I gave birth to my daughter- the brightest light I have ever seen. Since then I have transformed my Spiritual Beliefs into a Spiritual Way of Life, continuously and progressively naturalizing and expanding. I have an affinity for imperfections, irregularities, things out of balance, rustic, old, worn-out, handmade, rejects, runts, unwanteds…things that are ‘off’. I feel at home amongst them- a kinship, actually. In 2007 I started working with gourds. It began as a necessity; I lost my job in July and come Christmas I didn’t have money to buy presents, so I made them. I loved it so much I would stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning working on gourds. In 2010, I had a reading with a psychic who told me she saw my paintings on corporate walls. Since I hadn’t painted a single thing (and always wanted to), I figured I better get to it. I went out and bought chalk, acrylics, watercolors, etc. I have been painting ever since. I am elated to have discovered this talent in me. When I create, I feel an indescribable sense of completeness, expansion; I am spellbound. My hope is to reach your spirit and bring you into mystical worlds, to stir your imagination, spark your innermost sense of wonder and magic, and bring something visually enchanting into your environment.
