Hi
A little bit about me!
I’m Hilary but for reasons of continuity I took my maiden name and married name and now trade under those.
I’ve been painting for about a 100 years! I studied at Leeds College of Art, England and although I left and went into banking (why???) I continued to paint and exhibit throughout the UK in my spare time. After marrying and raising a family I began to paint on a ‘semi’ full-time basis (the children, home and garden permitting). I’ve managed to pick up a few awards along the way at the Yorkshire Artist Exhibition, Art In Nature Competition, the Daler Rowner Award at Patchings and The Claire Fontaine Award at Patchings. I’ve also raised some funds for local charities through my little gallery, the Frog Bank Gallery.
I would describe my work as being inspired by the natural world around and how the seasonal changes vividly affect the colour palette. I am drawn to compositions featuring the light, especially reflections on water, and how this evokes the subtle mood of the moment. My career has spanned over 30 years from a representational artist to a more looser impressionistic style.
I hope you like my work
