Artist comment about this artwork: "Oil Painting on canvas of a single sunflower in a church garden of a rummage sale I was attending Since the beginning of my beginning to paint with oils one of the first paintings done during a still-life painting class was of sunflowers and I had promised myself that I would redo what was for me an unhappy result I have always loved the bright-yellow petals surrounding the dark center or as it is known in the botany world the pistilwhich to my eye is made up of shades of brown magenta and vibrant blue highlights".
