I am a member of the Indian Administrative Service from the 1985 batch presently posted in Rajasthan. I have worked in different assignments in Government of India, Government of Kerala and Rajasthan.

During my professional career, I have been District Collector of two districts and Divisional Commissioner of Jaipur and Jodhpur in Rajasthan. The National Productivity Council NPC and the National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development have recognised me with National awards for my successful initiatives.

Harvard University selected me in 2005 for their prestigious Mason Fellowship to study for a Master’s in Public Administration at the Kennedy School of Government. I was also awarded a scholarship in 2004 for a Master’s in Public Policy at the Maxwell School, Syracuse.

In addition to my professional responsibilities, I have tried to keep up with my interests in painting as an artist for more than two decades. It in ways has been a journey of exploring my soul and the environment I have been exposed to during my career. Some of my works are available on my website

I was conferred with the" Artist of the Year 2009" and “Special Achiever Award 2009". I was also given the “Kala Shiromani Award" in 2008. One of my paintings on the ‘Famine’ depicting its impact on women and children in India won me the National Award in 2003. In 2004 another painting ‘Matters of Heart' was commended in the All India Fine Arts Exhibition.

I have held more than two dozen solo art shows in major cities including Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Chicago, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. My latest exhibit “Desert Symphony" at the National Museum New Delhi was inaugurated by Dr. Karan Singh in April 2011. Dr. Swaraj Paul in 2010 had presided over my exhibit at Nehru Centre London.

Also, many institutions have provided me opportunities to teach ethnic Indian Art including the East-West Centre, Hawaii and Centre for Adult Education, Harvard. I was awarded the Valparaiso Fellowship, Spain and Centrum Residency, US in the last few years. The Times of India has brought out a trilogy of books “Beyond Strokes",” Kiran's Art Renderings" and "Women- God's Finest Creation" based on my artworks painted over nearly twenty years.

I have also promoted art through events in many places, including the "Kala Kumb' a congregation of more than 150 artists including celebrities from all parts of the country organized through community support.

I am showcasing my artworks portraying the life, culture and livelihood patterns of India as I have experienced them through an exhibition of my paintings titled “Desert Symphony” from 15th May 2012 till 21st May 2012 at Nehru Centre Worli Mumbai.
