Artist comment about this artwork: "Afterglow is a Surrealist-Cubist piece I created using oil pastels in combination with the use of some mixed medias This work is sized at 18x36 and was created on canvas The message of this piece though definitely delivered in a Surrealized form is fairly apparent The image though being slightly altered via Cubism-Surrealism is that of a woman The positioning of her body placement of the right arm and tilt of her head - impart the eased and highly relaxed state of the womans emotional being Well beyond those insightful clues as to the mood of the figure please take a closer look at the facial expressiveness and the aura surrounding the woman This woman is in love She is emotionally mentally and physicallystill and completely frozen in the rapture state associated with being in love - a feeling we have all maintained As well you might ask yourself the question Is this woman possibly expressing something more Is she likely too expressing the glow associated with the repleteness felt in the aftermath of making love HmmmYou decideHint The Matisse-like full and palette enhanced luscious red lips may just help you ascertain the answer to that questionResult for the viewer Personally I adore this work And though far different from many of my geometric lines I love this work on many levels - and here is what they are for me 1 The powerfully and yet calmly conveyed dynamic of human love and with it passion They both are cleverly evoked from every fiber of this painting 2 The subtle allure of figures form which much like a siren - entices and draws the viewer closer eventually making the viewer feel her pleasure with her 3 The intricate oil pastel rich color palette and textures used in its creation of the womans figure and aura best appreciated in person 4 The elements of Cubism and Fauvism incorporated into the figures design elements 5 So much moreyou must really see this work to fully appreciate it and adore it - as I do".

Matthew Zedler, a Southeastern U.S. emerging art talent, is recognized as one of the brightest modern artists around. Matt paints out of his working studio/gallery in Marshall, NC (just north of Asheville).

His working studio and gallery has been open since January, 2008. Matt’s broad and progressive repertoire includes a captivating variety of abstract expressionist works, cutting edge linear-geometric works, and cubist derivative fine wall art.

He is a lifelong student of the arts and his specific training includes Arrowmont School of Arts, University of Wisconsin, and the University of Tennessee. He received additional training for the entirety of his life from his aunt and well-known artist, Joan Beringer Pripps.
