Artist comment about this artwork: "This dry-laid stone arch is located in a secluded gorge not far from our home in western Massachusetts It dates from about 1840 - one of a series of similar bridges built to make possible the first rail line ever built over a mountain range It has been abandoned for over 100 years This painting imagines what the bridge would have looked like with the largest steam locomotive ever to cross it - a Pacific - passing over The quoted price of the original includes archival double matting glazing and framing".
Art by the Artist Steve Hamlin

A New England native, I was born in Warwick RI. I did most of my growing up in Springfield MA. Since 1984, I’ve lived in the tiny town of Huntington MA, in the eastern foothills of the Berkshires, with my wife Linda. My paintings and drawings reflect three life-long passions: nature, history and architecture. After developing a body of wildlife (mostly bird) paintings, I began doing animal portraiture in 2012.
