Artist comment about this artwork: "Aretusa la prediletta Oil on canvas 73x60 2014Tribute to the sculptor of the Mediterranean Giulio MoschettiComment by Antonella MichelonAretusa Naxos Gardens famous fountain takes inspiration from mythology Aretusa nymph of Goddess Artemide entourage has seen by Alfeo who falls in love with her She doesnt return feelings and asks Artemide to help her Then she is dissolved and turned into a spring Desperate Alfeo calls Gods in and in his turn he is transformed in a river so he will always have the chance to join the spring In this work the buildings surrounding the fountain are reminiscent of neoclassicism Their brightness sets chiaroscuro off and is interrupted by an orange tone a bright colour suggesting a movement towards the fountain The part of the painting representing the myth is constituted by anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figures they remind us of the manneristic age The fountain is rich of forms and action To start from the horse that throbs and emanets power as it would unhorse the rider On the left side stands a feminine figure of ellenistic semblance in upright position in the highest point we see vanished and slim Aretusa nymph In this work too the artist gives expression to his passion towards opposing colours The orange colour leads us to the fountain that is cloaked by a verd-antique chromatism going back to the real oxidative process but to symbolize the time that all modifies but remains immortal Art and myths are the real timeless ones Sarmeola PD Italy".
Art by the Artist Alex Bertaina From Cuneo, Italy

I was born in Turin in 1963 and I live and work in Cuneo (Italy). I am an autodidact painter. Since I was a child drawing has been to me a prime channel of expression, I remember that at school I enjoyed drawing pictures from the incomprehensible scribbling made by my classmates. At the beginning I met the late Marco Lattes, who helped me to correct my watercolourist’s gaps . in the 1980s I attended many impromptus , where I received flattering awards and where I was able to deal with different art forms and artists in depth. In the early 1990's I had almost a close pictorial association with my friend Pierpaolo Giraudo with whom I shared a trip to the Aosta Valley in search of picturesque views. Since 1995 I have expanded my views to the north of Italy, where while participating to various national competitions I met several critics including Professor Umberto Zaccaria, who presented my first monograph. In 2001, I met Jean Louis Droit, a French art dealer, whom opened for me the European scene. Since then it has been a succession of shows!
